This is a beautiful and iconic Catholic church, the Capilla del Espíritu Santo or Capilla del CSIC, built in 1942 by the renowned architect Miguel Fisac. The church features a rectangular plant with a single nave, a raised presbytery, and lateral chapels, all of which are beautifully decorated with intricate frescoes and ornaments. The exterior is characterized by a simple yet striking façade made of brick, adorned with a large ocular window and arches, topped by a modest cornice and fronton.The church's interior is a treasure trove of artistic and spiritual delights, with three bays divided by arches and vaulted ceilings, decorated with stunning frescoes by the artist Ramón Stolz Viciano. These works of art depict scenes from the Bible, showcasing the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity, as well as iconic moments such as the Baptism of the Ethiopian, the Presentation of the Baby Jesus in the Temple, and the Good Samaritan.One notable feature of the church is the Capilla de la Virgen, which houses a beautiful baroque retablo from the 18th century. The church's aesthetic is further enhanced by the use of white stone reliefs by the skilled sculptor Juan Adsuara, which depict the Creation, the Annunciation, and the Baptism of Jesus.Despite its beauty and historical significance, the church remains humble and unassuming, providing a serene and peaceful atmosphere for worship and contemplation.
