The City of Arts and Sciences does not reveal itself all at once. As you approach from the old Turia riverbed park, the first structures appear gradually - white curves rising above the trees, reflections spreading across shallow pools of water. The architecture feels almost unreal at first, as if the buildings belong more to a science fiction film than to a Mediterranean city.

Walking deeper into the complex changes that impression quickly. The scale becomes clear. Wide plazas connect the structures, long reflecting pools mirror the sky, and the entire space feels designed for movement rather than just observation.

The Hemisfèric often draws attention first. Its curved form resembles a giant eye opening toward the sky. During the day it reflects clouds and sunlight in the surrounding water, while at night the lighting turns the building into a glowing centerpiece.

Nearby, the Museu de les Ciències feels completely different. The building stretches horizontally, full of glass and skeletal white beams that resemble something between a ship and a laboratory. Inside, the museum focuses on interactive exhibits - physics experiments, space displays, and installations designed to invite curiosity rather than quiet observation.

Families move slowly through the area, stopping frequently between buildings. The open spaces encourage wandering. Children run along the edges of the pools, photographers search for reflections, and visitors often pause simply to look around without entering a museum at all.

Later in the day the atmosphere softens. The intense Valencian sunlight fades slightly, shadows lengthen across the white structures, and the water begins reflecting warmer tones from the sky.

At sunset the complex becomes almost cinematic. The buildings glow, the pools turn into mirrors, and the entire area feels calmer despite the steady number of visitors.

The City of Arts and Sciences works not only as a cultural complex but also as a public space.

People come for the museums.

They stay because the place itself is difficult to leave.
